Honeybees are the worlds most important pollinator, they are vital for pollinating flowers, crops and trees.
This handmade honeybee brooch pin sits amongst a sprig of hand engraved and enamelled apple leaves. Honeybees are vital for the pollination of our apple trees, while the apple trees provide an early source of food for the bees. The Honeybee brooch pin can be removed from its ‘habitat’ and worn or can be simply viewed within its ‘habitat’ as a way to reconnect with nature.
With sustainable design in mind, the Honeybee pin is hand formed (not cast), to reduce the amount of unnecessary metal, whilst keeping carbon emissions at a minimum. Each strip of gold is individually cut and fused to the silver through an ancient Korean technique known as ‘Keum-boo’. The Apple leaf sprig has been constructed with sterling silver and vibrant vitreous enamel.
The dome base has been hand lathed from reclaimed Sapele wood.
